Set opposite its twin village, Newton Ferrers, across the tranquil waters of the River Yealm estuary, Noss Mayo is surrounded by rolling woodlands and peaceful waterside paths.

The village enjoys breathtaking views over the estuary and offers a serene spot to watch the ebb and flow of the tide, spot local birdlife, and observe sailing boats gliding across the calm waters. With its sheltered harbour and colourful fleet of dinghies, the river is perfect for both novice sailors and seasoned seafarers.

Stroll past charming waterside cottages and you’ll find two welcoming pubs: the Swan Inn, perfect for a relaxed drink, and The Ship Inn, known for its delicious food. At low tide, wander across the ancient causeway to Newton Ferrers to browse the village shop, visit the café, or enjoy a pint in the Dolphin Inn’s spacious beer garden overlooking the creek. When the tide is in, you can take the ferry—or paddle or sail—for your morning croissants from the local store and Post Office.

For those who love to explore on foot, a scenic walk through woodland leads to Cellars Beach and the South West Coast Path, with further trails stretching out to Gara Point and beyond. Within a short drive, you’ll find a number of unspoilt beaches to suit every taste: family-friendly Wembury, the dog-welcoming sands at Wonwell, and the hidden gem of Mothecombe Beach—perfect for a refreshing swim at low tide.
